 You reap what you sow

Despite the large pain in my gut as I recover from hernia surgery, it was a good day. The carma train was stopping for all.
On fathers day I always order crabs for my dad and we have a crab feast. I have done it for many years. The crab place was literally walking distance from my business until it moved about a mile this year, so I ordered there. A few years ago, the crabs I ordered were not exactly what I got. 25 percent were undersized and size is very expensive $20 more per dozen for each half inch larger. I let them off. The next year it happened again. I took the shells back and got a refund. The next year I went somewhere else, no problem. This year I forgot and ordered from them again. When I remembered, I said what the heck, I'll just measure before I leave rather than go elsewhere. So fathers day Sunday 2 oclock I go in to pick them up. He brings them out and I say I'd like to measure them. He goes in the back and comes back out and in front of his other customers says "we are busy here and I don't have time for this. I am not selling you any crabs today. I will just sell them to someone else. They all are the right size but you are not having them." I was dumbfounded. I protested mildly and he just repeated that he wasn't selling me any crabs. 2 oclock sunday and dad is waiting. Some guys would have choked him then and there. I told the customers standing there what had happened previously and left in a rage. Luckily I found them about 8 miles away and $10 cheaper. Whew.
Now the bridge is closed between our businesses and folks need directions to get around. Today someone asked how to get to the crab place. I sweetly told them how to go and then added "Ya know, he threw me out of his store on fathers day" Of course they wanted to know more. I told them the whole story and they asked for directions to the other place I went saying the last time they went there the crabs seemed smaller than they should be. I'm not done with him yet.
Later a guy came in wanting to rent plants for a photo shoot, not something we do. I recognized him as a customer and a guy I happened across and helped when he overturned his lawn mower into the road by his house. I lent him our best plants to use for free. He said he would bring them back before we closed. He did and said a lady from way outside our normal sales area was at his busiess to pick up an order and loved our plants. He gave her directions to get there. She showed up and bought a bunch of stuff. A good day especially since the closed bridge has cut business by 1/3 to 1/2.

Hardshell crabs have to be 5 inches tip to tip on their shell to be legal in Maryland. They can get up over 6 1/2 inches and the males are the only ones you buy by size. Females are considered low grade.
